Kentucky Association of Teachers of History discussed presidential elections at annual meeting

The Kentucky Association of Teachers of History (KATH) examined the difficulty of teaching about presidential elections in today’s polarized political climate at their annual meeting held at the William T. Young Library the end of October.

The featured speakers for “Chalk the Vote: Education and Presidential Elections” were Joshua A. Douglas, UK Robert G. Lawson and
William H. Fortune Associate Professor of Law, who spoke on “The History of Voter ID Laws and the Story of Crawford v. Marion County Election Board”; and State Historian James Klotter, a Georgetown College history professor, who spoke on “The Great Rejected: Henry Clay and the American Presidency.”

Megan Mummey, SCRC collections management archivist, served as the 2015-16 KATH president. For more about KATH, see UK Now History Teachers Meet to Discuss Presidential Elections.
